This blog post will cover more of the chapters up to 20 and go through my creative process and the development of my novel. I hope to provide some different ideas and suggestion into some of my favorite scenes from the next chapters that I didn't get around to last time.
For this section I can't really go through very much without spoiling some of the major plot points, but I will go through some notable scenes!
It goes without saying that if you like what you see here, you can go and register your interest to know when more information regarding the novel is out!
Wounds

This scene makes my heart happy for a weird reason. this is a very intimate scene and because I have so many scars on my body from various operations when I was little, I need to make sure that this is represented in this piece of writing. I needed to make sure that there is a scar represented and that is why Nate and Eri both have scars in various places. The scars and the blood and the gore in this scene makes a statement no how hard it is to heal from scars. Erica later, in Chapter 16, confronts herself. You can read more about that here. There are also contemplations of death here and this scene is slow and intermate. This wasn't a painful one to write psychically, but it sure hurt my soul.

And this scene shows Erica's confidence against another person, as the one with Durrius didn't go very well I wanted Lucifer to interject with something (a possessed version of Nate) to try and spice the world up a little bit and give her another objective. I also wanted to make the tension of her defending herself and pay it off in later scenes. The action in this scene could definitely be better.
Chapter 16: Broken Rings

A fight scene between Lucifer and Nate was needed, especially as he lost his last fight. I wanted to make sure this was a different type of fight scene. Whereas the last one was very shocking, there is a destructive tenderness to this oen, where Nate and Lucifer are trying to (somewhat) reason with each other.. As with literally everything between these two, their fractured relationship and Lucifer's expectations of his Son and Nate being unable to meet those expectations, as well as what he said towards the end of the scene at the party makes them both hot and angry, tensions running high, but it's a room where they're meant to care for each other. I loved writing this scene so much and if you want to see how it ends and what it leads to for yourself, read the novel when it comes out!

This footnote is really interesting and whilst I didn't have time to give you all of the footnotes and explanations for them, otherwise I would never get the book edited, I wanted to highlight this one. I was studying Buddhism at the time for my A-levels and as seems to be the case, I wanted to twist everything we know about religion on its head. I am not a particularly religious person, I'll say that much. Spiritual, to some degree, but not religious. Regardless, there are always two (or three) sides to every story and I wanted the footnote to take advantage of this.
