Some of the best books I've read this year are included in this post! I've not read as much as I would have liked to, but some of what I have read has been amazing. This doesn't go to say that everything I have read has been my favourites and is a stunning five star review, but before I spoil the whole post, let's get into it!
Solitaire
Loved the cute romantic gestures of Holden but the plot was interesting. I loved the cynicism from Tori the whole way through! Oseman really nailed the cynical part of a teenager and I have a hint it might be authentic because, it at least, felt that way.
Wonder
This book ive read twice and absolutely loved reading it! I found the way the author writes about facial disfigurement was tactile and you could understand where August was coming from! Also the added perspective from others help bring the whole book together!
Nick and Charlie
First book of the year and this was so adorable!!! Honestly I can't tell yuo much without spoliling it, but this was what I needed for this first part of the year. I wish I could read it all over again for the first time, I might do that though.
Skullduggery Pleasant (Hell Breaks Loose)
Derek's work is always somewhere in my year. I don't always love his books like I did Demon Road (so much that its the inspiration for my own work) but I quite enjoyed this book especially because its not a mainline series but still has the quality of one. Also! I finished the book without even realising it, os although it wasn't my favourite one of the year, I realy liked it.
NightJar
This book had a great first and second act and didn't come through for me on the third! I still really like it through and the second act (where the story takes place) tends to loose me. I really felt for Alice and what she needed to do and I absolutely loved the scenes in the opening act!
